	Ammar M. Ahmed Charleston, WV George Washington High School   The past two years I have served on Student Government as the Junior Class and Student Body Treasurers. I also served as treasurer of Key Club and played varsity tennis. I am valedictorian of a class of 240 and have been awarded National Merit Scholar, Advanced Placement Scholar, and two gold metals in the National Latin Exam. I attended Boys State where I was elected to the State Senate. I have founded a youth group at my mosque and served as President this past year. I have also won 2nd prize in a national essay contest and served as a correspondent for a news magazine.
	Susan M. Ambler Miami, FL Gulliver Preparatory School College/College Plans: Harvard University   I am a native of Miami, Florida, and have lived here my entire life thus far. I attended Gulliver Preparatory School. I live in a suburb of the city of Miami called Pinecrest, with my father Scott, mother Robin, and brother Charlie. I am interested in English and Biology. I was nominated to compete for the National Council of teachers of English writing award, and received the Brown University Book Award for Excellence in English. For the past two years, I volunteered in a lab at Miami Children's Hospital. Last year I received an award for excellence in IB Biology Higher Level and I also received the Summer Research Award, and entered the Intel Science Talent Search Competition. I enjoy spending time with my friends and boyfriend, reading, writing and playing the clarinet. I will attend Harvard University in the fall.
	Christopher N. Baily Silver Spying, MD Montgomery Blair High School College/College Plans: Cornell University   Christopher is from Silver Spring, Maryland, and recently graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. His is a 1999 Presidential Scholar Arts scholar in visual arts, and also has interest in video arts. He has won many awards for his art, including being a Maryland Distinguished Scholar ARTS finalist and winning first place in the Maryland Scholastic Press Awards for his work in his school paper. Christopher will attend Cornell University in the fall where he will study Fine Arts and Political Science.

	Daniel W. Bartlett Tucson, AZ University High School College/College Plans: Harvard   I was born in Tucson, Arizona November 8 1980. When I was four I became a charter member of the Third Street Kids, a performing arts group for children with disabilities. Although I still love music and drama, my strongest skills are math and science-related; since attending University High School in Tucson I have twice qualified to take the USA Math Olympiad test, led the Academic Decathlon team for three years, and participated in a Telluride Association Summer Program. I plan to attend Harvard this fall and will probably major in math, physics, or astronomy.
	William S. Beaver, Jr. Larchmont, NY Mamaroneck High School   High School Activities: Captain, Fencing Team; Co-Editor-in-Chief, Globe newspaper; Co-Founder, Investment Club; State Assembly Representative, Junior State of America; Student Council Representative; National Honor Society. 	Matthew A. Beermann Lincoln, NE Lincoln Southeast High School   Ever since I first laid hands on one of those bulky beige boxes, I've had a great affinity for computers and have done tinkering, troubleshooting, and programming for everyone from my next-door neighbor to the University of Toronto. In fact, I hope to make a career of computer/information science. I also love to write in all styles, including editing my school newspaper and "gifted newsletter". I've had the chance to hone my leadership skills with a number of different organizations, including both Leadership Lincoln, the Lincoln/Lancaster County Youth Advisory Council, Boys State, the Nebraska Scholars Institute, and others.
	Michael C. Bennett Chesterfield, MO Parkway West High School College/College Plans: Princeton University   Mike was born in Dallas and lived in Little Rock and New Orleans before moving to St. Louis. He attended Parkway West High School, where he graduated as valedictorian and was involved in many music ensembles, including band and jazz band, track, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, and Beta Chi Pi. Mike has played the piano since first grade, participating in numerous competitions, and has played the trumpet since fourth, twice earning All-State honors. Academic honors include: National Merit Scholar, NCTE Achievement Award in Writing, and Missouri Scholars Academy. Mike will attend Princeton University and hopes to become a medical doctor.
	Kathryn J. Benson Mounds View, MN Irondale Senior High School College/College Plans: Princeton University   In the past year, Kathryn Benson was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, Presidential Scholar Semifinalist in Academics, National Merit Scholar, Harvard Prize Book recipient, and ARTS Awardee in Writing. Kate was most recently a runner-up in the USA WEEKEND Student Fiction Competition. In high school, she was involved in softball, Earth Corps, National Honor Society (Secretary), and Peer Helpers; her volunteer work has included tutoring foreign elementary students, instructing church programs, and working to raise money for hunger organizations such as Oxfam and Adopt-A-Family. Next year, Kate will attend Princeton University to study English and creative writing.
	Anne P. Blackfield Wauwatosa, WI Wauwatosa West High School College/College Plans: Yale   Graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in English. Will attend grad school at Yale starting Fall, 2004.
	Jamie A. Brown Guatemala, Guatemala American International School of Guatemala   I cannot say exactly where I am from, just like most foreign service kids. I've lived in California, Virginia, Kenya, Honduras, and, for the past five years, Guatemala. Growing up overseas I saw first hand the effects of overpopulation and other environmental abuses on underdeveloped countries, the trauma of which has inspired me to make it my line of work to alleviate the poverty that horrified me as a child. Hopefully, if you look me up in the future, that is what I will be doing.
	Douglass V. Calidas Trooper, PA Methacton High School College/College Plans: University of Pennsylvania   I celebrated my eighteenth birthday on the Ides of March this past year in my hometown of Trooper, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. My parents and my older brother Scott have always been my closest companions and confidantes. Music has been my passion since the age of six, and I currently play lead guitar in a local band and provide private piano instruction. I enjoy playing sports, am the valedictorian of my class, and play an active role in my community. I will be attending the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and plan to pursue a career in law.
	Stewart A. Campbell Boise, ID Boise High School College/College Plans: Stanford University   Steward Campbell's variety of experiences range from volunteering in Kenya with the Medical Benevolence Foundation to attending a summer debate institute at Northwestern University. He was elected Senior Class President, Editor-in-Chief of the nationally recognized yearbook, and was a member of the varsity debate team, eventually competing in the Policy National Tournament of Champions. He was an All-Conference member of the Varsity Football and Baseball teams. He served as President of the Key Club, Co-President of the History Club and a member of the National Honor Society. Stewart will attend Stanford University.
	Charles B. Chang New City, NY Clarkstown High School South College/College Plans: Harvard University   Charles graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University in 2003 with a joint A.B./A.M. in linguistics. After graduation, he taught English for a year in South Korea as a Fulbright Fellow, and then started graduate study in linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley. The following year took him to England, where he completed an M.Phil. in English and applied linguistics at the University of Cambridge (Trinity College) as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. Now back on American soil, Charles will receive his Ph.D. in linguistics from Berkeley in 2010 and looks forward to a career that will allow him to combine his passions for language, education, and community work.
	Annie B. Chao Wichita, KS Wichita High School East   My personal motto is: "Carpe Diem! After all, life is short and ice cream melts fast." In other words, take advantage of life's opportunities. Significant "flavors" in my own life include being selected for the International Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, playing in a quartet for four years, running on the varsity track team, serving as president for National Honor Society and Spanish NHS, honing my writing abilities, volunteering at a local nursing home and Park Department Cleanup, and interning at the University of Kansas Medical School. I am as passionate about these activities as I am about my ice cream, and I encourage everyone to savor life's "desserts" before they melt.
	Frances S. Chen Warner Robins, GA Houston County High School College/College Plans: Harvard University   Frances Chen, daughter of Feng-lai Chen and the late Dr. Paul Chen, is the Houston County High School Class of 1999 valedictorian. At school, Frances had served as president of Mu Alpha Theta, captain of the math and academic teams, and competed with the varsity tennis team, literary team, debate team, and Beta Club. Frances is also editor-in-chief of the Macon Telegraph teen board, principal cellist of the Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra, a peer tutor, and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She is a National Merit finalist, District STAR student, and an AP Scholar with distinction. She will attend Harvard University.
	Huibin A. Chew Champaign, IL University of Illinois Laboratory High School College/College Plans: Harvard   Hailing from Champaign, IL, Amelia is happy to give "Piano Mouse" a boost to new-found fame. The mouse was a gift from her piano teacher of 11 years, Roger Shields. Amelia was a finalist in the 1993 and 1995 Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competitions. Academic Awards include: 1999 Chicago Tribune All-State Team; 1998 Bausch&Lomb Honorary Science Award; 1998 National Winner in two categories, Quill and Scroll International Writing/Photo Contest; book prize for 5 gold medals (1995-99), National Latin Exam. Commitments have included: being student newspaper co-editor-in-chief; being Music Club co-president; taking part in an advocacy project addressing diversity. Amelia will attend Harvard and is undecided about a major.
	Dave A. Chokshi Baton Rouge, LA Baton Rouge Magnet High School   The word that best describes me is driven. Whether it be in the classroom, organizing an extracurricular activity, or on the basketball court, I am characterized by a desire to succeed. My favorite subjects in school have always been math and science. I like Biology and Physics in particular. Outside of academics, I enjoy participating in student government, community service, academic competitions, and sports.
	David Y. Chong Wheaton, IL Wheaton North High School   What do I do? I play piano, guitar, harmonica, and video games. I enjoy singing, tennis, drawing, and camping. I love nature and its reflection of God. I accept praise reluctantly, but crack jokes quickly. Most importantly, I am a worship and small group leader at my church youth group. This position has become the most challenging part of my life; any leader must be devoted and consistent every single day. Now, I am far from perfect, but by God's blessings and love I have what I have today; boasting of my achievements otherwise seems to be in vain.
	John S. Chorba Hamilton, NJ Hun School of Princeton   My name is John, and I'm from Hamilton, NJ, the town just south of Trenton. My last name, Chorba, means "stew" in a variety of Slavic languages, but I couldn't cook it, my culinary skills are limited to cold cereal. My favorite drink is flat sprite, and my Cubbies are going to the World Series this year. In my spare time I fight fires with the best station in the county, Station 19.
	Jose R. Coleman Santurce, PR Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola   I was born eighteen years ago to classical music and to the loving eyes of my family. From a past rich and diverse which includes everything from bankers to poets I feel like I have a lot to live up to, nevertheless I am constantly reminded that people are as big as their dreams and aspirations. Through perseverance and consistency I have graduated first in my class, participated in international sport competitions, served my school in the Student Council and N.H.S., and most important of all, won the affection and admiration of my peers, without whom none of this would be possible.
	Ryan L. Cooper Charleston, SC James Island High School   I put three people to bed each night, but they're all me. First, oldest of five, terror of the fridge, I get unconditional love and acceptance. Second is the advanced intellectual. Speaking in complete sentences at 14 months. Adding columns of three-digit numbers before 3, in my head. DC Junior Scholar, five '5's' on AP exams, class Valedictorian, National merit Scholar, Presidential Scholar. A breeze. And then, the gladiator. Competition, the thrill of victory, never consider defeat. Eagle Scout. My senior year, I ran crosscountry and made the varsity basketball team, both for the first time. I want to win. I may not know what I will be, but I know who I am.
	Adam S. Cureton Evans, GA Lakeside High School College/College Plans: University of Georgia   After living all over the world, I still consider Georgia to be my home. Not only does it have the best weather, but it also is the home of the greatest University in the world. I am of course biased because I will be attending the University of Georgia as a Foundation Fellow. I have spent the past four years debating both in and out of the state at various debate tournaments while also rock climbing and rafting in the northern part of the state.
	Paul J. Cusick Plymouth, MI Catholic Central High School College/College Plans: University of Notre Dame   I have danced with the O'Hare School of Irish Dance for 14 years. I have won 6 national Championships. In 1997, I became the first American male to win the All-Ireland Championship. In 1998, I won the World Championship in Irish Dance. I have performed with the Chieftans and the Trinity Dance Company. I danced in the movie "Mafia" and am listed in the Irish Almanac. I plan to join the show "Riverdance" in August. In the fall of 2000 I will attend the University of Notre Dame. I plan to study Political Science, become a lawyer, and enter politics.
	Jeffrey M. Davidson Reno, NV Reno High School College/College Plans: Stanford University   I have the usual lengthy list of honors and awards, which includes a l600 SAT, 5 time debate national qualifying, and a host of memberships and interests, including tennis, violin, literary magazine, and creative writing. Though I do not wish to trivialize these very relevant facts, I find that my most important characteristic is an avid sense of human potential and the ability to cause laughter (hopefully with me, not at me). I will attend Stanford University - go Cardinals! - in the fall.

	Clare K. DiSalvo Morgantown, WV Morgantown High School   I live in a small town in West Virginia with my sister, Maura, and my brother, Philip. While in high school, I led my school's Amnesty International group and volunteered at the local Ronald McDonald House. After college, I plan to join the Peace Corps and work in a Spanish speaking third world country. Then I plan to return to the US and work for a non-profit social service organization.
	DarAnne R. Dunning Otter, MT Powder River County District High School   I live on a cattle ranch in a very rural, isolated area of southeastern Montana with my parents, Denny and Debby, and younger brother, Dawson. I attended high school in Broadus, Montana, which is 45 miles away and the nearest town from my home. Despite the distance to school, I participated in nearly every extra-curricular activity my small high school offered. Some highlights include: basketball, Speech and Drama, Art Club, National Honor Society, school newspaper, and service learning. I was also a class Valedictorian and National Merit Scholar. In my free time, I enjoy watercolor painting, photography, drawing, and fly-fishing.
	Philip A. Eckhoff Bellaire, TX Bellaire Senior High School   Philip Eckhoff was born in Dallas, Texas, but he has spent most of his life abroad. For ten out of the last thirteen years, he has lived with his family in Haiti at a small mission hospital on the rural north coast. He lived through the 1994 U.S. occupation of Haiti 1994, and he spent his freshman and senior years at Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas. For his sophomore and junior years, he self-taught in Haiti. He is active in church and school activities, and he enjoys physics, computers, and basketball. He taught English in Haiti for two years.
	Laurel R. Eckhouse Des Moines, IA Roosevelt High School   Graduated from Swarthmore College in 2003. Worked as an educator with Outward Bound and Teach for America. Currently working on a Ph.D. in political science at UC Berkeley.
	Justin A. Erlich Oakland, CA The Head-Royce School College/College Plans: Harvard   Justin Erlich was born and raised in Oakland, CA. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with a degree in Government in 2003. While in college, he started a late-night cafe on campus--The Quincy Grille--and was honored by the Harvard Alumni Association for his "unique contribution to the Harvard community." After graduation, he briefly worked on Capitol Hill. He then joined the John Kerry for President 2004 campaign where he worked for a year in the finance and fundraising department. After the campaign, he worked at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, before matriculating at NYU School of Law. He will graduate in May 2008 and then start a position as a judicial clerkship in Miami for Honorable Rosemary Barkett of the 11th Circuit.
	Tanner T. Fahl Honolulu, HI Iolani School   Tanner Fahl recently graduated from Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii. There he was the class valedictorian, proconsul (student body president), and won the 1999 Headmasteris Award for highest academic achievement and the 1999 Alumni Award for outstanding male athlete and scholar. He was also the 1999 Homecoming King. Tanner played goalkeeper on his high school's state winning soccer team. He is a National Merit Finalist and Scholarship winner, a member of the US National Physics Team, a Radio Shack/Tandy Scholar, and won first place in the 1999 Regional Economics Challenge. Tanner is also the chairperson of the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Committee, involved in the Japanese Culture Club, and with the American Heart Association.
	Frank Fang Albany, GA Deerfield-Windsor School   I would 'toot my own horn' except for two reasons: my accomplishments must seem commonplace among a collection of such excellent students, and I would be grossly unappreciative of my family if I were to take full credit for my achievements. I owe everything to my parents who have devoted their entire lives to ensuring that my siblings and I live happy lives. Also, my brother Robert and sister Lucy always have given me priceless advice and support. If this Presidential Scholar award is given to anybody, it should be given to the creators of the presidential scholar, my family.
	Andrew A. Farke Armour, SD Armour High School College/College Plans: Stony Brook University   After receiving my B.Sc. in geology from SD School of Mines and Technology, I went on to graduate work in the Department of Anatomical Sciences, Stony Brook University, New York. I am active with a variety of research and outreach activities, including fieldwork in Madagascar, investigations into horned dinosaur evolution, and paleontological outreach to schoolkids. In June 2003, I married fellow Presidential Scholar Sarah Nichols (PS 1999, NJ).
	Will M. Farr Coos Bay, OR Marshfield Senior High School   Will Meierjurgen Farr, co-valedictorian at Marshfield High School, will attend California Institute of Technology, and hopes to become a physics professor. He has been an Associated Student Body officer and played trombone in the symphonic and marching bands. Farr is a National Merit Scholarship winner, an Advanced Placement Scholar, was awarded an Apprenticeship in Science and Engineering from Saturday Academy and won the Bausch and Lomb science and the Xerox social studies awards. He was named Outstanding Student in English, German, Math, Physics, Band and Chemistry, and has earned 10 varsity letters in cross-country, swimming and track.
	Thomas P. Fritzsche Kennebunk, ME Kennebunk High School   Tom, originally from Kennebunk, Maine, graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 2003 from Amherst College with an interdisciplinary major in Latin-American studies. Since graduating, Tom worked for three years as a labor organizer for long-term health care workers in Los Angeles and performed migrant agricultural work as part of an independent research project. He also spent three summers as a health outreach worker and medical interpreter for farm workers. In the fall of 2006, he entered New York University School of Law as a Bickel & Brewer Latino Institute for Human Rights Fellow. At NYU, Tom has been the project leader of teams of students that have researched and written policy briefs for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a Florida-based farmworkers’ organization. He also interpreted for NYU’s Immigrant Rights Clinic on several cases. During the summer of 2007, Tom was a legal intern for the National Day Laborer Organizing Network in Los Angeles through the Peggy Browning Fund labor law program. He is currently representing clients in the Immigrant Rights Clinic, and he serves as a Staff Editor on the Review of Law and Social Change and Advocacy Committee Co-Chair of Law Students for Human Rights.
	Nancy S. Garland Deer Isle, ME Deer Isle-Stonington High School College/College Plans: Harvard University   Hello from Maine! What to say when as yet I do not know any other Scholars. I will be attending Harvard University next year, where I am looking forward to being one of many after graduating with a public school class of twenty-eight. I play soccer, violin, piano, flute, and I sing. I enjoy science and writing and used to enjoy math until the era of Calculus. I hope to do medical research in the future and to always to be able to find joy in each day. I am simply me.

	Erica L. Gaston Slidell, LA Slidell High School   It has been said that the greatest contribution you can make to the course of humanity is yourself. I heartily endorse this and try to bring it into every aspect of my life, whether I'm playing the role of Merit Finalist, choir member, Editor of the Yearbook, or forward on the soccer team. Each of us is a catalyst for change. I will make a difference, a positive difference. And I can do that best through developing my ideas. I stand prepared to enter college with the courage and tenacity of one who does not understand resignation. I look for the opportunities that everyone wants—to hope, to build, to create, to encourage, to smile, to succeed, to live each day with the feeling that I can be more, and to sleep each night with the affirmation that I made a difference.
	Carl S. Gieringer Anchorage, AK Robert Service High School College/College Plans: Dartmouth College   Carl Gieringer was born in 1981 in Anchorage, Alaska. Carl had high expectations for himself early, which led him to perform in Alaska's All-State Orchestra and play football for his school's state champion team. His athletics were curtailed by a major back injury prior to his senior year; however, he did not let this affect his academics. Carl completed five AP classes allowing him to graduate from his high school summa cum laude this spring. Both the Anchorage Daily News newspaper and local NBC television station have recognized Carl's achievements and volunteer work. Carl will attend Dartmouth College next fall.
	Raymond E. Glotzbach Little Rock, AR Little Rock Central High School College/College Plans: Princeton   I have worn my lucky shoes for the past 5 years. With their split seams and soles worn smooth, they are archives to the discerning eye or nose of the miles and trials I have traversed in high school. They helped me ace the SAT, make my Valedictorian speech, and find love. They are the teenage equivalent of a security blanket. I will be wearing them for the medallion ceremony and then on to Princeton in the fall. You will know me by my shoes.
	Evan M. Goldman Bethesda, MD Walt Whitman High School College/College Plans: Maryland Institute College of Art   Evan Goldman has been drawing since before he can remember. He began painting under the direction of Mr. Walt Bartman when he was twelve. Evan turned his family's guest room into a studio and has been painting intensely ever since. Evan has sold many paintings, and has had two professional shows. Next year he will attend Maryland Institute College of Art, in Baltimore. Evan's awards include the Marie Walsh Sharpe Scholarship, Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts Scholarship, the Arts Recognition Talent Search, and second place in the Maryland Artist Equity Competition.
	Erica C. Grieder Camden, DE Caesar Rodney High School   I graduated from Columbia in May '03 with a BA in philosophy. Amusingly enough, I am now actually employed, and live in Austin, where I spend every waking moment keeping a sharp eye out for Jenna Bush.
	Todd D. Gruber Sandy, UT Brighton High School   I am a graduate of Brighton High School, Salt Lake City, Utah. My favorite subject has always been science, and I am looking into Biochemical/Pharmaceutical research for a possible career. I enjoy Lincoln/Douglas debate and Model UN, and I like expressing my opinions through my school's newspaper, although I doubt anyone truly reads them. I also enjoy numbing my brain watching television. My recent accomplishments (although I'm sure everyone has similar ones) include High Honors 1998 Chemistry Olympiad, National Merit Scholarship, first place State Model UN, second place state L/D, second place State Academic Decathlon, and top five State Math.
	Emily A. Guilmette East Montpelier,, VT U-32 High School   I love the fact that I'm on the brink—in a buffer zone between infancy and adulthood. It's a quiet moment, high school winding down, plans for next year in-place but a summer away. I'm enjoying the reflection time, and while I'm anticipating the rest of my life, I'm also evaluating my experience to this point. Here are my observations from the first eighteen years: 1) Drink water—the time in the bathroom is worth it. 2) Play outside—as much as possible, even in the rain. 3) Never sit on your hands—literally or figuratively 4) Use words—hideous, enjoy, and perplexingare recommended; expletives may vary— WORDS ARE EVERYTHING. 5) Maintain a sense of wonder always.
	Christopher L. Guo North Potomac, MD Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School College/College Plans: Harvard University   Chris strides from Richmond, Virginia and for much of his early life attended an all boys St. Christopher's School. There he won back to back "Highest Academic Average" prizes through middle school and ninth grade, although losing to Ned Stone in 7th grade. Outside the classroom, Chris found time to play ruthless short stick defense in lacrosse and run 3 seasons of cross-country and track, mostly due to the mandatory athletics policy at St. C. During high school, he moved to idyllic suburban Maryland, attended Wootton High School for a short time, and excelled at taking standardized tests. Because of Harvard's prestige, Chris went to college with several people who either were or will eventually become famous. For example, he lived in the same house as actress Natalie Portman. Upon graduation in 2003, Chris worked briefly as an investment banking analyst at Banc of America Securities, whose offices are located in the Mugatu building south of Central Park, before running away to the West Coast and calling San Diego "home." He is currently a Ph.D. student at UC Santa Barbara, in the Economics and Environmental Science Program. Everyday he rides his bike to school and works on decreasing his carbon footprint.
	Lisa N. Guttentag Greensboro, NC Grimsley High School   There now lives a girl, Lisa G. 	Paul R. Hadley St. Louis, MO Home School   Pianist Paul Hadley has gained recognition as an orchestral soloist, competition prizewinner, and recitalist. Orchestral appearances include solo performances with the Missouri Symphony, the North Arkansas Symphony, and the Springfield (Missouri) Symphony as well as various duo piano performances with his sister, Melanie Hadley, a 1996 Presidential Scholar. A frequent competitor, he has been a major prize winner in numerous competitions, including the Chicago and New York Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competitions, the Fite Young Artist Competition, the Stravinsky Awards, and the Artist Presentation Society Auditions. In addition, he maintains an active recital schedule and a private teaching studio in St. Louis.
	Kathryn E. Harris Summerville, SC Summerville High School College/College Plans: Harvard College   Born in SC, Eliza moved to New York at the age of eight to perform on Broadway in LES MISARABLES. She returned to SC for high school where she has received recognition for accomplishments in French language, mathematics, biological science, photography, and creative writing. She is a National Merit Scholar, valedictorian, a SC All-state Academic Team member, and will attend Harvard University. She is president of her school’s French Honor Society and the interdenominational Christian club, and is on the Math team. Her acting credits include Nickelodeon’s “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” and Partnership for a Drug-Free America.
	Daniel J. Haspel Annandale, VA Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology   Daniel, an 18 year-old senior at Virginia's Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall as an Echols Scholar. His primary interests include computer science and music. He is percussion section leader in his school's concert and marching bands, as well as in several other groups. Last year, he, his brother, and three others founded AliVE Multimedia Group, LLC, a computer programming company. He was recently awarded 2nd Place in Computer Science at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and was named one of the 48 U.S. Lucent Global Science Scholars.
