Fieldwork has taken Croft to a variety of places including Australia, Madagascar, South America, and the western US, and he has collected fossil fishes, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and dinosaurs in rocks as old as 230 million years. His research primarily focuses on the evolution of mammals in South America, especially a group of endemic (and now extinct) mammals called notoungulates. When in Chicago, he was especially busy with educational activities in the years following the unveiling of Sue the T. rex at the Field Museum; he continues to use Sue and his research on fossil mammals to illustrate the principles of fossil discovery, preparation, exhibition, and scientific investigation to people of all ages.
When he is not being a paleontologist or educator, Croft is active in organizations such as The Ohio State University Extension (an organization that brings research-based horticultural information to the public), Science Café Cleveland (a monthly informal science discussion that takes place at a local brewery), and the Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists (an organization for reptile and amphibian enthusiasts). | All of my friends from the Presidential Scholars Program will be happy to know that I achieved my dream of working in Mission Control.
I left NASA because I felt a deep need to make the world a better place.
I am now the Founder and Director of an organization called Strong Mothers Against Child Molesters (SMAC'M). We will have Chapters all across the U.S. Each Chapter will buy micro surveillance video systems, and make them available, free of charge, to anyone who suspects their child is being abused. |

| Jeremys life has been characterized by a solid family structure, community and church involvement, and a level of social concern and understanding. Music has been more than a pastime activity, it has been a part of him. He has played the piano since the age of hve and held the positions of drum major in the marching band and president of the concert choir. A reflection of his commitment to his community, Jeremy chose to join the Livonia Safe Rides Program to confront a pressing social issue. | Having won the gold medal at the International Ballet Competition at age 14½, Jennifer understands the meaning of the word commitment. Further tribute to her hard work came at the end of her junior year when she was invited to join the Joffrey Ballet Company in New York. Jennifer has been judged by many in the dance world to be almost prodigal in her balletic talents, says a teacher. Jennifer has balanced her education, family and dancing career masterfully. Placing high values in education to carry her beyond her dancing years, Jennifer intends to continue her study of both the Russian language and the fine arts at Harvard. |

| Although Anna held formal onces in her school activities, she considers informal leadershipleading by example to be just as important. Annas first love is mathematics, which she plans to study at the California Institute of Technology. To her, math is the unravelling of a tangled web of logic. Annas many interests and talents include classical piano, singing and rockhounding. Her fascination of other
cultures and peoples stems from her travels to France and England and from her exposure to inner-city Seattle. She credits her parents as having created a sense of family togetherness by placing a high importance on communication. |
