I attended Princeton University and graduated with a BA in Economics. After college, I worked in Washington, DC for several years as an aide to political commentator Bill Kristol and to the Republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives. At the same time, I served for nine years as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. In the following years, I worked for Institutional Investor magazine as director of their Asia-Pacific Institute (based in Hong Kong) and their Global Fixed Income Institute (based in London). I then attended the Wharton School for my MBA, where I met my wife, who is a native of Beijing. After working several years as a private equity investor in Hong Kong, we moved to Beijing, where I am now teaching as an Associate Professor at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management.
